KFS Board Corner – September 2025
With the fall season whistling under our doors, the KFS Board turns its energies to our Annual General Meeting, November 5, 5:00 pm at the Paramount Theatre. All current KFS members are welcome to attend. The AGM allows members to review the Society’s past year hear and what opportunities and challenges our year ahead might bring. It’s also recruitment time for our Board – staying renewed and relevant for our KFS members is key to a healthy Society. At the AGM, we’ll welcome new board directors who have been active on other KFS Committees (the Thursday Film Series, the Kamloops Film Festival Committee, the Indigenous Film Festival Committee, for example) and are eager to get more involved in the Society by joining the Board.
Leading up to September’s successful Indigenous Film Festival, board members pitched in by being part of the Raffle Brigade, selling tickets for our KFS Fall Raffle to raise money for ongoing programming. It was a great opportunity to meet guests and when possible, tell them more about the KFS and our Board.
The KFS’ successful collaboration with the Kamloops Museum & Archives display “Wide Angle” is winding up, and our lobby will soon be the proud recipients of a key piece from that display. A 1908 projector will be housed in a new display case for guests to marvel at and if you took part in the board-led Paramount’s 70th anniversary celebrations “Behind the Scenes” tour, you’ll have seen how far film technology has come from this humble beginning.
This fall the Board has also been spearheading a fundraising campaign, starting with our “30 for 30” initiative – encouraging 30 generous local donors to contribute $1K each – and moving onto other targeted campaign drives up until the end of the year. We welcome any and all donations from our loyal KFS supporters, and more information is available on our website: https://thekfs.ca.
