See the city with new eyes at Jane’s Walk Festival Kamloops, May 1-3, 2026
Jane’s Walk is an annual festival of free, community-led walking conversations inspired by legendary urban activist Jane Jacobs. On the first weekend of May every year, Jane’s Walk festivals take place in hundreds of cities around the world.
Jane’s Walks encourage people to share stories about their neighbourhoods, discover unseen aspects of their communities, and use walking as a way to connect with their neighbours.
To conclude our festival weekend, we invite you to join us for a free screening of the acclaimed documentary Citizen Jane: Battle for the City, hosted by Propolis Cooperative Housing Society in partnership with Kamloops Film Society.
This film captures the dramatic mid-century showdown between Jane Jacobs—a self-taught “eyes on the street” advocate—and Robert Moses, the powerful “Master Builder” who sought to dismantle historic New York neighborhoods in favor of superhighways. It’s a timeless story about the power of the people to protect the heart of their city.
The screening will be followed by a community talkback session, where we’ll share reflections from our weekend walks and discuss how we can apply Jane’s principles to the future of Kamloops.
This screening is made possible with the generous support of the United Way Local Love Fund.
