Join us at the Paramount Theatre for a special pre-season celebration of opera on the big screen!
The evening kicks off with a licensed reception featuring wine for purchase and live performances by local soloists and a mini chorus singing selections from Carmen. Afterwards, enjoy Twenty Years of the Met in Cinemas: An Anniversary Celebration—a 180-minute retrospective of iconic performances by global stars like Lise Davidsen, Joyce DiDonato, and Jonas Kaufmann.
Whether you’re a lifelong fan or new to the Met Opera: Live in HD series, it’s the perfect night out for the Kamloops opera community.

Synopsis
Richard Eyre’s beloved production of Bizet’s masterpiece returns to theaters for a special encore this season, led by soprano Elīna Garanča as the title character and tenor Roberto Alagna as Don José in the iconic 2010 Met performance. Carmen is set in and around Seville, Spain. It follows the obsessive, ill-fated love affair between the fiercely independent factory worker Carmen and the soldier Don José.

Opera Talks
This season, Kamloops music lovers and the opera-curious are in for a treat. Dramatic soprano Heidi Muendel has curated three free, interactive, and educational Opera Talks in partnership with the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra. Joined by other local artists, she will explore this season’s productions, share the history and artistry of opera, offer live demonstrations, and answer audience questions.
