Dusty, Broke N’ Broken Hearted

This Summer’s Thursday Film Series explores the history of the Western genre. From classic American Westerns (My Darling Clementine) to Akira Kurosawa’s take on the lone antihero that inspired A Fistful of Dollars (Yojimbo). Once Upon a Time in the West represents the Italian western in this series, starring My Darling Clementine’s hero, Henry Fonda, as one of cinema’s greatest villains. No Country For Old Men is TFS’ representative of a neo-western. The Coens take the conventions of the West and subvert them to explore their nature.

The Thursday Film Series is a weekly curated series of film screenings featuring Canadian, independent and international films. The TFS Committee currently runs four Film Series:
- FALL (September to December),
- WINTER (January to February),
- SPRING (April to May),
- SUMMER series (July to August).
Networking Opportunities
Words & Reels: A book and film club in partnership between the Thompson Nicola Regional Library and the Thursday Film Series (TFS). Patrons will read and discuss an assigned book and film that have a shared theme.
Post-Film Chat: Look for updates on the post-film chat location.
