FRONT OF HOUSE COORDINATOR
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Front of House (FOH) Coordinator at the Kamloops Film Society (KFS) works directly with attendees, ensuring a high level of customer service and a positive patron experience. The role oversees the concession, the theatres, the volunteers, and the playing of the films, troubleshooting when necessary.
The FOH Coordinator is a part-time position paid on a per hour basis. On average, it is expected that each FOH Coordinator will work approximately 10-20 hours per week. KFS regular screenings take place Thursday to Saturday evenings, but we also have rental events on weekdays, so schedule flexibility is ideal.
The KFS runs a small operation so the FOH Coordinator will be at times be asked to assist with improvement/ maintenance projects such as painting or cleaning.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Selling food and drinks
- Selling tickets, passes and memberships
- Checking patrons in
- Working a Point of Sale System; handling cash; working a Debit/Credit machine
- Making Popcorn
- Cleaning the theatres, bathrooms, concession, lobby, and other common areas
- Stocking all concession and cleaning items
- Lead our Volunteers on their nightly duties
- Handle projectors/computers, troubleshooting if necessary
- Maintenance/ upkeep tasks as needed
- Ensuring cleaning protocols are met
RATE: $17.85/hr

THEATRE TECHNICIAN
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Paramount Theatre Technician works closely with the KFS Programming Director and Rentals Manager to coordinate and deliver all technical aspects of Paramount Theatre special events and rentals, including comedy shows, live performances, lectures, screenings, and community events.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Collaborating with directors, artists, presenters, and production teams to realize artistic and technical vision within established schedules and budgets
- Preparing, setting up, operating, and striking lighting, sound, and projection systems for live events
- Coordinating and supporting load-ins, set-ups, technical rehearsals, performances, load-outs, and tear-downs
- Assisting artists and visiting productions with technical needs, logistics, and venue orientation
- Providing on-site troubleshooting and problem-solving during rehearsals and live events
Qualifications & Skills
- Demonstrated experience providing technical support for professional events and/or live performances
- Working knowledge of lighting, sound, and basic projection systems;
- Experience with QLab and other A/V or show control systems an asset.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff, artists, and volunteers
- Availability to work evenings and weekends
- Ability to assist with physically demanding tasks associated with live events (load-ins, set-ups, etc.)
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
RATE: $19/hr, part-time position; hours vary depending on rentals and special events. Additional hours may be available for candidates able to work Front of House (concession) shifts.
