THEATRE TECHNICIAN

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Paramount Theatre Technician works closely with the KFS Programming Director and Rentals Manager to coordinate and deliver all technical aspects of Paramount Theatre special events and rentals, including comedy shows, live performances, lectures, screenings, and community events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Collaborating with directors, artists, presenters, and production teams to realize artistic and technical vision within established schedules and budgets
• Preparing, setting up, operating, and striking lighting, sound, and projection systems for live events
• Coordinating and supporting load-ins, set-ups, technical rehearsals, performances, load-outs, and tear-downs
• Assisting artists and visiting productions with technical needs, logistics, and venue orientation
• Providing on-site troubleshooting and problem-solving during rehearsals and live events

Qualifications & Skills

• Demonstrated experience providing technical support for professional events and/or live performances
• Working knowledge of lighting, sound, and basic projection systems;
• Experience with QLab and other A/V or show control systems an asset.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff, artists, and volunteers
• Availability to work evenings and weekends
• Ability to assist with physically demanding tasks associated with live events (load-ins, set-ups, etc.)
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a vehicle

RATE: $19/hr, part-time position; hours vary depending on rentals and special events. Additional hours may be available for candidates able to work Front of House (concession) shifts.
